“Where have you been, Miss M.I.A.?”

Miss M.I.A., also known as Miss Missing in Action. Miss M.I.A., the alias my friends have given me. Not without reason – I tend to appear and disappear on the social scene as often as Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab.

However, I do not think of myself as Miss M.I.A., but perhaps Miss. Misunderstood. Most of my family and friends see me (I hope) as an out-going, energetic, style savvy and passionate wild child.

There is a second side of my personality that is often missed. After all, what kind of Gemini would I be without a split personality? This photo, unexpectedly taken by my boyfriend, is perhaps the perfect reflection of who Miss M.I.A. is; a girl, who lives in a soccer sweater, always has her nose in a book and, is constantly obsessed with trying to clean a room that truthfully may never be completely clean. She is pensive, focused, and a perfectionist, who as a result is a compulsive and uncompromising worker. For her deep thought provides new life. So, admittedly, I often go into hiding for long periods of time where even my best of friends cannot track me down. And this personality, although loved, has damaged several of my closest relationships.

Lately I have been feeling that Miss M.I.A. has been getting the better of who I am. So after inspiration from an incredible friend, and to whom I am dedicating this posting, I decided it’s time to stop obsessing over the state of my closet, much to my Mother’s chagrin, and start sharing my real adventures.

I hate running into friends and being asked “so what’s new” and simply replying “oh you know, the same old stuff”. That is not even close to the truth – I don’t even know what "the same old stuff" means! I hate talking to my friends whom I have shared countless memories with and not having anything of value to say. Between school, work, soccer, family, and friends I have lots to share with you. I just can’t always remember when I am put on the spot.

Miss M.I.A. is thus a blog to show with all my friends, my family, and my followers, that I am not missing out on any action, but in fearless pursuit of love, life, and my authentic self.

  2. your right about seeing old friends when you go out..it never fails it the same question and same reply everytime .. cause what your going to go into detail about what your doing ? i dont think so,so you make up a short tale which maybe half true but nothing close to what your actually doing. sometimes it maybe better not even to say hi
